This initiative, taken by CEM in partnership with our friends at Europa Nostra is consonant with one of the pillars of the French Presidency of the European Union: belonging.

The representatives of these cultural institutions have each signed an agreement with the European Music Centre and undertake to adhere to the network's charter. This network resonates with the missions of the CEM. The main objectives of the network can be read here:

The visionary behind the CEM and this initiative is the internationally renowned baritone, Jorge Chaminé. As founder, he has a clear vision:

"The Europe of Musicians exists because music has shaped Europe! It is a question of highlighting a feeling of belonging to the European soil, a feeling that has been carried by great musicians for centuries. With this network, we want to broaden European and extra-European connections. Music must play this role as a connector, but also a diplomatic role, as a bridge between cultures and a dialogue between disciplines."

It’s value in this moment is ever more important.

Our CEO Paul Atkin explained why he was so eager for the San Cassiano to become involved:

“Five minutes with Jorge Chaminé and the huge value of this project becomes clear: we have to come together to celebrate our shared culture, to cherish it and to protect it. Especially now, given the horror of war in our shared Europe, we need to present an alternative: music, love and community.
