A day dedicated to understanding theatre stage design and painted scene-sets
We’ve been very happy to host the Körgem Kunstikool Pallas school from Estonia this week as part of their Erasmus+ “student mobility for traineeship”. Today, after a visit to the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, Paul Atkin gave the students a personal tour of the location of the original Teatro San Cassiano, offering insight into its history and legacy, and specifically into the process of reconstructing the original 1637 theatre with particular attention to the stage and to how we approach the recovery and painting of the scene-sets of that era in an historically-informed manner.
We hold our outreach projects close to our heart and hope that as the theatre becomes a reality there will be many more such events to help preserve these precious artisan techniques.

Many thanks go to Margus Meinart and to the students of Körgem Kunstikool Pallas.
