Imagine sitting in this theatre: a platea just six rows deep surrounded by a wall of boxes 10 metres high
Our latest model of the Teatro San Cassiano, complete with its historically-informed Proscenium Arch, gives us real insight into how our theatre will be unlike any other in the world.

Entering a box will be like walking through a time-machine. Once inside, we will find a Venetian Baroque theatre of 153 boxes over five tiers and with a capacity of just 405. The historically-informed performances will be intense, immediate, intimate; it will be an undeniable artistic, cultural and commercial force that cannot be experienced today. This will be opera rediscovered in its original home, in its original context. This will be Venice celebrated as the birthplace of public opera.

In a project of a million steps, we have moved progressively from impossible, to difficult, to feasible. We now know we have the capacity to rebuild the original theatre of 1637. In short, we are good to go.

Paul Atkin and Jon Greenfield pose with our new “HIP” model of the Teatro San Cassiano. Our thanks go to the team at Base-models, London.
