It has been a privilege for the Teatro San Cassiano to join the École du Louvre this week in celebrating the great variety of Venetian festivals spanning several centuries with an international seminar at the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti in Venice
Our CEO, Paul Atkin, was honoured and delighted to accept the invitation of the École du Louvre and the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti to present the reconstruction of the Teatro San Cassiano within their seminar on the Festivals of Venice as seen through artistic production across the 13th to 20th centuries.

Les fêtes à Venise à travers la production artistique (XIIIe-XXe siècles) was held in Venice from 22 to 28 June, it was opened by Prof. Pierre Rosenberg of the Académie française, French and Italian art historian, président honoraire du musée du Louvre. The speeches were held in the Sala Adunanze, Palazzo Loredan (Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, Campo Santo Stefano, 2945).
Paul contributed a paper entitled: Reconstruction of the Teatro San Cassiano (1637), the world's first public opera house.

The seminar's closing evening took place at Palazzo Franchetti, on Wednesday 28 June with a reading by Professor Daria Perocco on the theme 'The Maritime Feast called Regatta'.
A huge thank to Natacha Pernac, the Seminar coordinator for the École du Louvre.
