We’d like to share with you a video by our partners at the Castle theatre of Český Krumlov of their historic stage machinery and scene-sets in action
We remember with much pride that in September 2018 the Teatro San Cassiano collaborated with Stage and Gestures Director Zuzana Vrbovà, and Music Director Ondřej Macek, his ‘Hof Musici’ orchestra and the Castle theatre, Český Krumlov in the modern world premiere L’ingresso alla gioventù di Claudio Nerone (Modena, 1692), with music by Antonio Gianettini and libretto by Giambattista Neri. The opera was recovered originally by Paul Atkin and the libretto translated by Paul and Stefano Patuzzi.
Together with Baroque stage restoration and Castle Director, Dr Pavel Slavko, the Castle theatre has been an important font of inspiration, generous support, guidance and invaluable expertise for for the San Cassiano project since 2016.
Unfortunately, Italy has lost the ability to stage Baroque opera ‘authentically’. Today, paradoxically, the country that gave the world opera finds itself without a single commercially active Baroque opera theatre with functioning period stage machinery and scene-sets. The Teatro San Cassiano will recity this wrong.
We hope you enjoy the video, presented here by Jíří Bláha:
Festival of Baroque Arts (16-18 September 2022)
We’d would also like to remind you that this September our partners at the Castle theatre, Český Krumlov will host the Festival of Baroque Arts 2022, by staging La Vaghezza del Fato with music by Giovanni Bonaventura Viviani and libretto by Pietro Guadagni (Vienna, 1672).
You can find the programme for the Festival here:
It’s a great occasion for a full Baroque experience and to see the stage machinery in action.
