“‘VoiCheSapete’ announced as a scoop some time ago that in Venice, a group of visionary musicologists / musicians / entrepreneurs are moving to build an opera house on the model of the first theatre that, in 1637, hosted the first public opera performance: that is an opera open to all audiences who could afford the price of a ticket, an epochal date in the history of western music. The opera staged was the L'Andromeda, a libretto that has come down to us, but the music is lost. Through studies, the size and location of the San Cassiano theatre are now known to us, and the project may soon become a reality: important because there are no 'Italian-style' theatres still in operation that were built before the mid-18th century. Giuseppe Clericetti and Giovanni Conti will help us to better understand the characteristics of the project, and the state of the works together with Carla Moreni, music critic, and Paul Atkin, the true factotum of the project.”
